Dan Gneiding, the senior graphic designer at Urban Outfitters, designed these nail and lip bottles.
In our first project of Va 301, we’re gonna create a corporate identity for one of the 3 things we chose in the class which are; a Chinese restaurant, a second hand boutique and a search engine. I began my project with searching some Chinese restaurants to have an idea about what my Chinese restaurant will look like. I decided to create a restaurant which will have a very modern line that can also represent the concept of Far East, so the main color in the restaurant will be red and there will be some Chinese motifs but in a very minimal way. It will be not so luxurious but also not so down at the heels. It will adress mainly the young people. These pictures are the ones which i liked their concepts.
Secondly i searched some boutiques which might give me some opinion about vintage stores. Since i am very interested in vintage clothes, it’s very important for me to create my ideal vintage store. It must be exciting, colorful, energetic, visually well designed and organized. One of the most important thing is looking clean because the main problem in the second hand stores is that they look dirty and smell like they became mouldy. I want to use decorative wallpapers, different types of vitrine models and old fashioned furniteres. Here are the stores that inspires me.
Finally, i looked up for some search engines. I wanna have a search engine that is visually well designed and directly adresses the things people are looking for. The background must have a very plain picture or grapichs according to the concept that doesn’t bother eyes. There might be soft colors and the typography of the site must have non-serifed font. My search engine will adress art activities like it finds concerts, festivals and museums which people might consider to go.
Well, let me give you a secret about myself: I’m a shoe addict. I admit it. Especially when it comes to Nike and Adidas sneakers. I just can’t get enough of these colorful, stylish sneakers. I have to buy every color of every model but it’s a painful disease when i don’t have any money to buy one:)
Nowadays these shoes from Yves Saint Laurent’s ’09 collection, are in every fashion magazine and they are celebrity’s new favorite it shoes. So it made me understand that ‘being a fashion victim’ does really exists because there is no way that a woman can find these shoes visually beautiful. It’s a pity that people can wear everything just because it’s fashion…
The Spanish brand Camper has designed it’s new collection for Spring Summer ’09. As much as i love the shoes, i also love the ads for this collection. They are just fantastic and surreal which include exotic animals, objects and people with Camper shoe boxes on their heads. Also i suggest you to look at it’s original site; http://www.camper.com. It is very enjoyable, colorful and creative.
If you haven’t heard of him, Alexander Wang is an American fashion designer from New York and he is one of my favorite designers. He attended Parsons The New School for Design and interned at Teen Vogue magazine. He made his first collection in womens wear in 2007 and he became the winner of CDFA/Vogue (magazine) Fashion Fund Awards in 2008.
Here are some pictures of Wang’s ’08 and ’09 collections:

Last season, Ray-Ban’s Wayfarer model became latest fashion icon again since Audrey Hepburn made the sunglasses popular in her movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961. But the things changed with the new season’s beginning. Clubmaster is the new model for Ray-Ban and now it’s everywhere…
